A private function is a birthday party, engagement party, or work do, for friends, family, colleagues, or other such guests where no entry fee is charged. A ticketed event is a gig, fundraiser, or themed event, where tickets are pre-sold to attendees or they are charged an entry fee at the door, and some form of entertainment is usually provided by the person hiring the venue.

Darby Street Station is available for hire any day of the year except for Christmas Day, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday, provided that the venue hasn’t already been booked for something else.

The venue can be hired for any time between 8am and 4am Sunday to Thursday, and any time between 8am and 11pm Friday and Saturday.

There is a minimum spend of $2,500 that must be agreed to in order to hire the space. This $2,500 spend can either occur via the hirer putting on a bar tab, or through drink purchases by your guests.

 If the minimum spend is not met then the difference will be charged to you as a venue hire fee. This will be added to your total bill on the evening.

Yes, to secure your date we require a $500 deposit. This can be used towards a bar tab and/or security on the night or refunded to you after your function if the minimum spend is met.

We require all functions to have at least one security guard to ensure that minors and intoxicated persons cannot enter the premises. The bar will cover the cost of one security guard for five hours (unless you do not meet minimum spend). Additional security guards are $40 per hour.

Yes, duty managers and bartenders will be provided by the venue free of charge.

We can provide a DJ at a fee to be agreed. Depending on the size of the minimum spend, the venue may agree to provide a DJ free of charge.

The venue may be able to provide you with a professional photographer provided that sufficient notice is given to book the photographer and costs are agreed.

The venue can hold up to 400 people for a standing/cocktail type function.

The venue is completely private and fully self-contained. It has its own bar facilities, bathroom and team of bartenders to look after you.

Yes, you can provide us with credit card details and a spend limit, and we can operate an open bar for your guests, or subsidise a dollar amount from each of their drinks.

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own food for your private function, and there will be no extra charge for doing this.

We have in-house catering options available provided that a minimum of $1,000 is spent on food.

The venue hire includes:

    • 2m x 4.5m x 3.9mm LED screen (9 square metres) – for any slideshow photos/videos etc
    • Sound system with in-house music, or alternatively you can bring in your own ipod/laptop etc
